"Mendelssohn Variation" is a piece which is inspired by Mendelssohn's iconic E-minor Concerto.

Towards the end of 2023, Niklas Liepe asked me to contribute a piece for his upcoming album on which he will perform Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.
I was instantly hooked and dove straight into composing. My intention when writing "Mendelssohn Variation" was to explore another path out of the countless possibilities Mendelssohn's original idea could have taken over 200 hundred years ago. Doing this it's not about imitating or reinterpreting Mendelssohn's decisions but to create something new from the same starting point.
